you never see pros use fishes in the wct

Yeah, I've thought of that too recently. My guess is that it has to do with the style of surfing & judging that has emerged. Since the Curran shortboard revolution in the 70's, l feel like competitive surfing has become more about shortboaring. And only (relatively) recently, since Slater had appeared, the style of surfing had again changed. Some people, & even Slater touched on this in one of his recent interviews, feel that the judging has evolved around Slater is style & what is now considered shortboarding. Personally l look at pro surfers styles, watch videos & try to do what they do, because that is what better is (if that makes sense).

Also, maybe its because the shortboards they use r performance boards, & a fish just would not be feasible at a place like Chopes. l ride those types of boards, & l do not know how a fish would work in that heavy a wave.

l would love to see that happen, though. A couple of my friends r into fishes & longboards & they have this old school style that just is not present in modern shortboarding, & I'd love to see that in a 'CT contest, though it would be hard to judge, & they'd probably have to change the system a bit.

They do not need low performance fish is to surf. It would be like being a nascar racer and using a mini-van instead of a race car. It is all about high performance. But l will say that l am surprised that no one has surfed with a quad fin..
