what routine should l do for it . and is a cutback or a roundhouse woth more

You r scored on performing ''the most radical manoevres in the most critical part of the wave for the longest EFFECTIVE distance''. In other words, u need to perform as many of the biggest moves u have on the steepest section of the wave (near the falling lip) to score highly. Whether or not a roundhouse scores more than a cutback depends on which part of the wave u perform it on - if u pump down the line & away from the steep section to start the roundhouse, it wo not score too well - u have to keep it tight & right in the pocket of the wave.

As for a routine, it is impossible to plan that - u have no idea what the waves will do on the day - just spend as much time watching the waves as possible - if it is a beachie, look at where the peaks r & if it is a reef or point, look at the position u need to be in to catch the set waves. You r also judged on wave selection (not just wave height) so try to choose waves with some shape to them.

l completed a surf judge course not too long ago & it is really surprising how accurate these guys r when they judge - most of them r within 0.2 of each other for each individual wave.
