Hey... im a little under 6 feet and very slim what size shortboard should l be looking at... does it matter??

5 or 5 and a half footer should be good for you if your barely under 6 foot. You want to be taller than it.

It sounds like you're just starting and what the first guy is telling you is pro-grade stuff, you need a 6'3 to start at least if you're new, get it thick as well if you're a beginner. you do not need a shortboard your first time out, go with a longboard if you can afford it.

actually, you can get shortboards taller or shorter than you. for a beginner, you should get a board that is taller than you. only get a board that is shorter than you if you are like a pro and have been shortboarding for a while. for a beginner shortboarder, you should get a board around the 6'3'' to 6'6'' range, but for the best results go to a surf shop. the guys there will get you the right size board. so just go to a surf shop and they will take care of you

if you are a high performance surfer in small waves then l would reccomend a 5'8 and if its big waves l would recomend a 7'0. If you are a begginer l would reccomend a 6'4 and if you are a beginner then you wont need a board for bigger surf. anywhere between 6'1 and 6'4 in my opinion. l surf in Hawaii so maybe its different here because it has more power.
