i want to learn how to surf, but i'm landlocked

l wanna learn how to surf ^__^

but but but i'm not gonna get the chance until a few years from now :(

obviously the only real way to learn how to surf is to actually do it -
but is there anything l can do now or practice on land that will help ?

like balance is important in surfing, l know that - so what about yoga ?
you need strong arms too so should l like start lifting weights ?

Skateboarding, snowboarding and wakeboarding use similar balancing skills, If you have access to lake and boat, try wakesurfing.

Balance trainers like Indo boards will help.

you can purchese an indo board.its basically a board with a roller that you roll back and forth with and do tricks on.this is a really good way to develop your balance and it actually feels like surfing..you can also get a skateboard and yoga is cool to.heres the site for the indo board l think you should buy

surfing requires good core strength as do most sports so working out your abs and back will help, and l would not suggest lifting weights for your arms, it would be better to go and swim. the endo board is a good idea too.

You r exactly right! You need an ocean to learn how to surf. You can prepare (a little) by being in fairly good shape. Flexibility is a key. You can get that lots of ways, Yoga, martial arts, stretching exercises, gymnastics, other activities like swimming, etc. Swimming is the core of surfing. Now pool surfing does not add up to ocean swimming, but u should do it, as often as u can.

Weight training is a great way to building upper body strength. Dumbbell bench presses work pecs, delts & triceps & lots of stabilizer muscles that help with swimming & paddling a surfboard. Doing squats (with weights), or squat thrusts (without weights of course) help build the core & leg muscles to help u 'pop up'.

Any board sport (skate, snow, ski, wake) will help improve or refine ur balance. Working out on an ''indo board'' may be really helpful, too. Some surfers swear by it.

Now, get in really great shape, & make ur way to the closest ocean at ur earliest possible opportunity. When u get there, work on ur ocean swimming skills, & then take some surfing lessons, before u conquer the waves on ur own. Good luck!

you need to learn what surfing feels like, to drop in, to turn. Best way to do that is skatepark or build yourself a miniramp. Save money and take trips to Mexico.

skateboarding but skateing hurts more when you fall but it will help a lot also swim in a pool to build up you're stength it will help with you're paddeling.
