If you are talking about San Clemente spots like Trestles and San-O, Yes San Clemente is better. If you are talking about San Clemente pier than Huntington is better.

what u can not decide where to live? On any given day, both have great surf. but to ask without any precedence is a kind of a waste of time. Though closer to HB is a multitude of different bottoms that hold different swells & directions & l like the inside section at 16th street in H B too.. so, l think u have to ask not only is the surf better in H B more often but too there is a million things to do? like go out to eat, places to rage & drink at, lots of theaters & live bands, & great skateboarding near by & not so in San Clemente

It depends on what types of waves you prefer. Huntington and surrounding beaches have generally short, abrupt, plunging type waves whereas, San Clemente is known for the long rolling walls of the various points in San Onofre State Park. Both places have decent waves for surfing, they are just different types of waves.
