I have a major fear of jellyfish! I am doing a surf camp in longbranch and I won't even go in the water! HELP

Your best bet is to get out in the water & keep ur eyes open for jellyfish. You will be OK if you're w/a surfcamp because u will have plenty of eyes looking for anything that could be harmful.

l surfed at San Onofre the other day & was talking to the instructors & they were telling me that their job is not as simple as everyone thinks. They're constantly looking out for their students, making sure no one gets hurt & having fun, & their primary focus is the safety of their students.

Tell one of the instructors you're worried about jellyfish & they will keep an eye out for you.

No go out there & have fun.

l have noticed VERY FEW, if any, jelly fish in South Jersey so far this summer. l know wind conditions have left us with water 10 fegrees colder than usual in the south, but l believe it is normal up in Long Branch. Regardless of what l have seen down south, after almost 50 years of swimming in the Atlantic from Ocean County to Cape May, l do not think u have much to worry about from jelly fish. Yes, we get them, but not that many. And, when we do, it is pretty well known up & down the beach. So, that is when u might want to stay out of the water.

l have survived years in the water, & yes, l have been stung, but l am still alive. And believe me, l have been in the sea in lots of places that r packed in jelly fish, & u can usually keep ur wits about you, watch what u r doing & avoid mishaps. Long Branch sounds fine to me. Do not be afraid, u will miss out on too much fun!

Your fears will hold you back. Try to overcome your fears and you will be able to accomplish a lot more than you thought you could.

Yea l live in NJ too.and from what l have heard, the jellies are mostly concentrated up north.there is also a time and place for jellie fish too.i tend to ususally find them around the beginning of august.not to freak you out or anything. but yust look out for the red ones bc the clear ones are armless.its not uncommon to find them here even more so bc its huriccan season and the waters are getting churned up..but youll be fine, u prob wont find any

Do not worry so much!! Most Jelly fish can sting but it does not hurt that much. The ones with tenticals are the ones that hurt, most of the others are dead. So just try to have fun but be on the lookout at the same time.

be more worried about the drive to the camp then the jellyfish.
and if you get stung, it does not even hurt
half the time l get stung, l do not realize it until i'm taking off my wetsuit
