my cousin offered to show me how to surf if l can find a surfboard for myslef... how much would a good but cheap surfboard cost?

a good but cheap board can run from $150-250 depending on the size. You do not want a board with obvious cracks or dings that are really deep. Most surf shops offer a used board section, and most of the time the salesperson can guide you to what you need.

Costco sells 8 foot surfboards for $99. This is a perfect board to learn on. Good luck and have fun!!

Well, it all depends on what u call a good surfboard. l have been surfing since '66, & l have owned dozens of boards (new, used, & custom made) & l have not paid as little as $150.00 for a board since around 1970.

l have great disdain for popouts, but u can probably get a nice big popout longboard new for somewhere around $300.

You can also get a hold of a decent used board in the $250. - $500. range in a good surf shop.

depending on how old u are, & what the surf condition s r like where u live, u might be okay learning on a softtop, but after u master it, u will soon want a real board. A new softtop long board sells fro around $250. - $300.

If u go to a good local surf shop, the folks there can set u up with the right board for ur size, skill level, local breaks & ur budget.

Unless u r absolutely desperate, do not buy any junk at Costco or Sam is or on-line. Go to a surf shop, where the industry professionals work & give advice. also, heed this advice l gave to ''Gossipgurl'' a few days ago, ''If u look back through the , u will see dozens of times that some us recommend that u LEARN first, & try a variety of boards FIRST, BEFORE YOU BUY A BOARD.''

you should really try to rent a board and learn how to surf on that before you go out and buy one, you may end up hating it and then you just wasted your money.go to your local surfshop and ask around..if you like it, buy a used on, but make sure its in good condition and is not all dinged up..but if you want to buy new, l would recomened a company calle Blue surfboards..get a fun board around 7'6 with a medium rocker

Having a one off 1hr surf lesson would be best start. You will get a session on a proper learning softboard and instructors to discuss what board you should get first based on your ability.

You can then make a decision.

You can get a popout for pretty cheap but you will get what you pay for ( l am sure John F will sum up the evils of them for me). Go for a used board in decent shape off of craigslist or something.

In business there is a triangle of purchasing, consisting of Cheap, Fast and Good. You can only ever have two of them. Now considering that time is not an issue in purchasing an off the shelf product you are left with good and cheap being the mutually exclusive terms.
