l am driving down the Pacific Coast Hwy (San Fran to LA) and l wanna learn how to surf.However, time is slightly limited so I am looking for a place where my friend and l can learn/be taught in a day or possibly two...location does not matter as long as it is in between San Fran and La...anyone know where l can find this. Rent longboards at Cowell is Santa Cruz. It is a mellow easy wave and you wont need an instructor, just do what everyone else is doing.

l am from Santa Cruz Ca. & any surf store in here will set u up for a class & teach u the basics. It is about an 1-1/2 hours a day. Also, they will be able to provide u with the basic attire (surfboard, wet suit etc) for a small fee. Classes normally go for $65-$80 per day, depending were u go & if/or want a private lesson; u can do it in groups as well.
Also, if u make a quick stop at Capitola Beach, there is a kiosk set-up with beach stuff; surboards, boogie-boards included. l asked the cashier & he said u can make an appointment one day ahead (recommended) for surfing lessons. Okay, that is, how long you're staying within this area.
