today l just ventured out of my boogie board and started surfing. exciting l know!! well l barrowed my dads long board, because my soft top hasnt come in yet, but in the mean time l have a question. how do you keep your hip-bones form getting all rashy and bruised from the wax?? mine are all raw and sore......

aww- do not switch to being a surfer girl- boogie nation is the way to go :] Bodyboarders can go higher, deeper, & spin faster. But enough about my disappointment that there is one less girl bodyboarder in the world.

l used to surf alot ( l shortboarded) but fell in love with the boogie. But l had the same problem. Actually, l still do from my bodyboard. My whole stomach, hip bones, & up near my ribs were bled whenever l came out of the water. So now, l wear a rashguard, which helps alot. My hip bones r still a little sore & bruised, but besides wearing a reaaallly thick wetsuit (which nobody wants to use in the summer anyway) there is nothing l can really do for it. l am sure using a softboard will help ease the soreness though. However, as girls out in the water, we have to be tough. no pain, no game, that is the way l ride.

l have a short board, but l learned on a longboard. l love that old longboards. Sorry l can not help you. l just do not worry about the bruising.

Maybe you could set the board in the hot sun. Use a smooth plastic spatula (or something similar). Scrap off the old wax, which is usually pretty rough. That may help.

l know from my own experience l get the same thing that u do.my hip bone sticks out when l lye on the board & the next day or later on that day l have bruises & its all sore & raw. l have been surfing for a while now & know some one who works at a surf shop & he always tells me that u always have to have something covering ur hip bone weather it be a wetsuit (helps a lot) or if u have board shorts that works to. If thats not helping before u go out find something in ur house that can be used as a cushion & sew it on in to the bathing suit or pin it with a saftey pin. It works 100% l know from my own experience & since l surf a lot l always come prepared! good luck & stick with surfing

but when l wear my wetsuit and boardshorts its not as bad as just in my bikini, l just put up with it :P
