l read it in Surfing Magazine, but I've read every interview l could get my hands on about the guy and to me he did not come off cynical. Just wondering if there are people out there who think he is a cynic and if they could explain. He just seems to wanna ''surf'' rather than ''win'' sometimes.

l do not think he is cynical. l think he likes to be a bit of a smartass with journalists who keep on asking the same annoying questions over and over. Check out the interviews with him on surfline..he seems OK to me.

My brother met him at Lowers last year & talked to him for a bit, said he was funny & pretty chill. l get the impression that (like Jamie O) he does not really want to do many contests, just surf. And he started competing pretty young, like a lot of pros, & maybe he is just burnt out from competing & all the press & whatnot. l would not believe everything in Surfing Mag, or especially not in Transworld Surfing. l am reserving my judgements of him until/if l ever meet him though.
