Yes it is possible but you have to be pretty tiny to be able to pop up and ride standing up. l think that is how a lot of young surfers get their start as little kids. l know body boarding as a 7-9 year old definitely helped with my knowledge of waves and to feel comfortable in the water before moving on to surfing and l can definitely remember trying to emulate the surfers by trying to stand on my body board. If you are too big to stand on it, you could always go drop knee.

Yes, it is possible & u do not need to be a kid or a midget. Check out Danny Kim doing things that regular surfers only dream of doing.

all depends on power of the wave. bigger the wave, easier it will be.

little thing to remember, get yourself a riptipe mag or visit sixty40.co.za & check what bodyboarding is & how insane it can be made. youll never want to surf!! huge airs, warped ledge breaks, getting deeper in barrels. bodyboarding is the way. u can even drop knee on a bodyboard & throw huge sprays & calve just like a surfer.

but surfing has an image, & financial backing. nothing wrong with surfing, just people tend to not realise what can actually be done on a bodyboard.

enjoyment is most important, so choose what u prefer.

it is impossible unless u are really light. like35 pounds. because u need to stand on it. it will just go flying up once u stand on it

It is possible, but very hard. If u want to surf, during the summer find a surfing camp to attend where they provide boards to practice on (almost all surf shops can give u information on different camps.) Once u get the feel of surfing from the instructors, go to a local surf shop & rent a board (usually, there is a deposit of about $300 dollars, but once the board is returned, u will get around $225 back, depending on how long u rent the board.)
Of course, if u r bound & determined to surf using a boggie board, find one an appropriate size for ur height & weight. The first thing l would do is practice standing up on the boggie board while floating in the ocean around the 4 feet area.
Good Luck!

l have seen lots of small body boarders, stand up surf on boogie boards, for short rides. But, if you are good enough to do that, why not move up to a surfboard? Boogie boarding is very cool, and some people prefer being in deep in a wave, something better done on a body board or a knee board. however, stand up surfing is generally a more versatile pastime.
