l want a board with some width and a board that makes surfing fun. An easy ride for smallish waves. Im 6'1 160 and my shortboard right now is about 6'4. Thanks any help appriecated.

Go with a short, wide, and thick fish with quad fin setup. You want almost no rocker too. That is what l have used the last three summers in southern california and it has been golden. Fastest board l have ever ridden. gets you through the small days of summer

Go the fish! A couple of inches shorter than your shorty, they're wider, fatter, flatter. Super fast and it will glide over fat sections.
My fave board at the mo is my fish, it is a twinny. l tried a quad and it was rubbish, so see if you can borrow a demo board to try b4 committing.

There is a great shaper called Roberts. FUn boards and great for crazy tricks.
