Going to Hawaii in April, where are the best places for a mainlander, intermediate surfer to paddle out at

l am not sure, my parents are from Hawaii but l sadly have never been. l have to say be care full, a lot of those waves could kill the best surfers. If they look too big or if you just are not sure, do not even try it.

Oahu is North Shore is like the mecca of big wave surfing , they have alot of surfing events held there , especially good for surfers goin in months before the summer , like april , Enjoy!

stay away from the north shore.they will kick your ass.

If u go to Honolulu there is a spot where all the main land peps go on the South shore near all the hotels stay to the right of them. It is more of a sand reef.

If u go to the N. Shore near Pipe.. go all the way to ur right. Just stay away from the mainlanders. If you’re a hot girl they will leave u alone. Funny how that works. You cannot miss the locals. The break is awesome & u can catch lefts & rights depends on the swell.

Also, be careful when u r out there it is a whole different ocean. There is a major rip current that is like a river. It will suck u out like no tomorrow. Pay attention to where u are.

Hawaiian islands r surrounded by reefs & they hurt if u wipe out. Also one minute the waves will be great the next they r HUGE. Pay attention at all times. l went during the winter months in Jan.. It was much more dangerous then.

In April u will still have wave change , but it will not vary as much. Find a local u can talk with. Some mainlanders (locals) r more susceptible in helping u out if u don’t look like a fake.

People die in hawii trying to surf. If ur not that great dont go out on ur own go with a friend until u feel like u understand the wave.

go to wakiki beach and not north shore those waves are huge

Well, just how good r you. If u would like a real challenge, check out Sandy, Waimea, Sunset, or Pipes. but be careful & bring a friend who can surf as well. The waves r pumping, the guys r cool, & the beaches r beautiful. As for going to Waikiki, that is more of a tourist place, there r some local that do go there, but the waves r not that great.and remember, the Hawaiian Islands r surrounded by coral reefs, they can hurt u if u wipe out so try to avoid them at all times. While most locals r really friendly, as a mainland surfer, be sure not to try to steal any waves, once the word gets out, u will be lucky if u get to ride any waves at all.. Good Luck! =P

North shore will have some size in Aprill. Swells stilll spinning off Aluteins at that time. Be careful though make sure you can handle!!
