Quiksilver is wetsuits and Oneill is are pretty good. Although some are very expensive, they are worth it. l currently own two wetsuits.

Honestly, the best thing to do is to have him try on different brands, as each one fits differently. A Large in Billabong fits differently than a Large in O'Neill. Wetsuits r all different in the sense that people prefer different options. But in a sense they're closely the same in what options r offered. High end suits r usually taped instead of stitched. High end suits r much more flexible than the cheap ones.

Right now is a great time to find a wetsuit on discount as many surf shops r getting prepped for Springtime.

Do not go to Sun Diego, or any of the big name ''surf shops but instead go to a small privately owned Surfshop. They tend to hire people that actually surf, rather than Hodads. A hodad is a person who does not surf, but who spends time at surfing beaches pretending to be a surfer.

If a suit is too loose, it wo not help much even if it is a $300 suit. No matter what brand he chooses, make sure it fits well.

haha yes! l have the psycho 4/3 & it is awsome at keeping me warm but choosing a wetsuit u really need to know all his measurements i.e inseam, chest, waist, hips, & so on, because if it doesnt fit just right & its loose he will be loosing the thin blanket of water in the suit thats suppose to keep him warm but if its too tight/small he will have hard time moving oh yeah the numbers represent the thickness of the wetsuit so depending on where u surf for u go thicker for colder water

1st place: Patagonia (but not available until Fall)

2nd place is tie between o'neil psycho 2 and xcel infiniti drylock

All other suits begin to leak water in the first year.

l wear o'neil psycho 2, best suit I've ever worn. Last 3 suits in order were rip curl, quiksilver and xcel.

Xcel has the best suits peroid. The thye of suit you need to buy depends on the water temp. 50-60 degrees youll need a 3/2, witch is the thickness. Below 50-40 a 4/3 suit will do. Winter surf 5/4/3, gloves and boots. Oneill suits are good too. Quicksilver has cheap suits, but they dont last as long. Make sure you get the right size!!! Fit has everything to do with it!!

Go to a real surf shop (not a bathing suit store that sells surfboards). Somebody there will help. There are lots of good things to say about most of the big name brands. If you do not live near the ocean, try a dive shop, but do not forget, surfers need more flexibility and zippers in the back.
