UC San Diego offers classes in surfing, l do believe.
If u r already accepted u can try to sign up for a summer course in surfing - it is a great way to get ur feet wet in getting used to school (pun intended).
If u r too late, check out city of San Diego Parks & Recreation Department & see if they offer any summer recreation surfing seminars. Some of their classes last about 2-weeks & get u going pretty quick.
Or visit surf shops, grab a local magazine or surf newpaper there & check out their ads for private surf classes. There r a lot of surf schools there. They r pricey, & u still have to provide ur own board & wetsuit, but just as good.
