well l live about 45 minutes from cocoa, & its nice. the waves r a lot bigger there than in new smyrna or daytona. & it does not get too crowded. the one thing l really like about cocoa is that it is the only beach in florida (so im told) where you're allowed to drink ON the beach.which was nice last 4th of july when l watched the fireworks there.and its further south than the other two beaches l mentioned so the water is warmer.good choice to go there :).but if u wanna go out, u need to make the trip to downtown orlando or citywalk at universal.definitely awesome!

Easter is a great time for Cocoa Beach. l get down there each year at that time. You will likely get to see some of the top shortboard & also longboard pros during ur visit, but waves can vary from great to nothing. The Easter Surf Fest will be going on with shortboards at the pier & longboards on the beach straight down from Ron Jons. There is usually a luau at the surf museum on Friday or Saturday night. The surf legends who r there will also be doing an autograph session on the beach probably Saturday around noon.

For uncrowded surf spots, go about a mile or two south from the contest to at least 17th or farther to the air force base. Otherwise, go north of the pier. There is a nice break north near the jetty at Canaveral Park. The water is warm enough that u can get by with a shorty, vest, or bear skin depending on if u have a tan or not.

If u need lessons, u can sign up at the Cocoa Beach Surf Company Surf School. They give lessons just south of the contest.

If you are around Cocoa Beach, l would go to Playalinda by the Space Center or Second Light across from Patrick AFB. But you might as well drive south to Sebastian Inlet. A lot of people surf at the pier, but it is not that great of a place to surf.
