Ok l have a LOST speed demon II, It is 6'7'' x 19'' x 2.38
I am5'5 and 190Ibs. Ok when l am paddling and when l am balance well in a srightposition, l can paddle but the board is still sinking; Also when lsit on it, it sinks.and when l try to standon it, it complely sinks way down. Is this because l am abeginner or the board is to small for me in thickness. what would be the right weight for this board?Beausethe stupied sales men recommend this board for me he said it was the right one for me, And l told him l am a beginner, l can not get my money back.

Ussually a beginner would want a longboard l do not know why he wanted u to get that. Anyhow do not worry about it to much. Shortboards r harder to learn but lots of people learn on them. The board sinks because think of it like a wakeboard or ski, alone in the water they can not support ur weight. Although while moving they can. A surfboard is like the same thing except bigger & less speed. Work on ur paddling & try to surf the white wash first or small waves for practice. l do not think it is so much ur weight in ratio to the size of the board. Sucks that he sold u a shortboard but its still able to learn on.

l totally agree with the very first dude. The salesperson shouldnt have sold you a shortboard but since you have it now you can make the best of it. Its going to take more work but eventually you will be able to ride it although alot of it has to do with the waves your riding. Dont feel bad if you dont get it at first. It will all fall into place.

Yeah, the sales guy should not have sold you a short board. Long boards are the best to learn on, but you will still master it with practice. The board sinks, because there is a 'way' to use them, and they're fairy tricky. You will learn in time.

my advice would be to sell your surfboard on like craigslist.com or ebay.com etc then use that money you should get some good money from it cause lost boards are good. also next time you purchase a board try to get one that has a round top instead of a point it will slow the board way down for you and foat way easier.final advice is to get something in the 7'2'' -8' range

Every one so far has been spot on. In the old days the local surfboard shop was your buddy. they would not rip you off, But times have changed, unfortunately. Go to a different shop. Tell them your predicament and ask to part exchange the whiz stick for something more manageable. 7 Foot mini mal with lots of float. Or something like that.
Print off these and show the sales person. Also try to go to a family run shop, rather than a multi stored Establishment.

l agree with everyone else that the dude at the shop was not cool - he did not give u what u needed, only what he wanted to sell!

That being said the first thing l would do would be to get a long board, (at least 9'). You can get a used one from Craigslist or something.

Once u get it down then u can try ur shortboard again. if u dig it then keep it. if not u can sell it.

Do not worry that it sinks. it needs to be moving like the other dude said. BUT that will make it MUCH harder to learn on so do yourself a favor & get a long board.

well l think that is ur fault for not researching enough to know that u needed to get something about the size of a tree for ur first board. Plus if u weigh 190 pounds & ur only 5'5, maybe u should work out or jog or something. It sinks because u r fat.
You should have known better then to buy it in the first place.

Here is what u need to do:
+Hang it on ur wall, preferebly somewhere u will see it everyday
+buy the biggest nastiest tanker u can find. The bigger board u ride now the better style u will have later on
+ Surf everyday. Before school after school. During Lunch.etc
+Use the shortboard as a goal u want to achieve.



Be ruthless in achieving ur goal.

and another thing:
Your not a local boy if u got ripped off at the surfshop so change ur name to local Valley or something

l learned on l giant old style board now its hanging on my wall but u might want to consider getting something like that it helped me but be carefull not to hit anyone
