Im 14 years old and l live somewhat close to a beach that my family has a beach house on and l wanted to know if learning how to surf is going to be extremely hard, or somewhat easy.l have been wanting to do this pretty much all my life, but l have not really gotten into it; Im pretty much scared that l will mess up so bad and embarrass myself.l have been snowboarding for about...5 years now and l think im very good at it, BUT l can not wake board for my life. The longest time Ive ever stood up successfully on a wake board would be no longer than 5 seconds.Do you think this whole surfing thing would come easy, or hard for me?

you just have to try it and practice

odds are you are going to fall on your first time it is nothing new but if you keep at it you will be good at it i'm sure

a lot of people l know are fourteen and surf.
it would not be too hard if you tried hard.
try going a lot in summer and having someone who can teach you well.

Snowboarding helps but only a little. Do not sweat sucking, we all started there. Surfing is probably the hardest sport to learn. Not only do you have to master your equipment but you have to learn to deal with an unpredictable environment to do it in.

If you're a good snowboarder than at least you've got good balance so you're ahead of most people who r learning. other than that surfing is not like snowboarding.

Surfing it not at all like wake boarding so do not even worry about not being a good wake boarder!

You just need to get out there & do it. you're going to fall, (just like u did when u were learning how to snowboard).

Do not expect to be good right away, do not give up too soon & u will get it - do not worry. :-)

Get yourself a long board, (at least 9' long - they're the easiest to learn on), & read this great article for beginners at this surfing blog: http://buy-rash-guards.com/rashguards-blog/?p=6

It is got some great tips to help u get started.

Most of all - have fun!!!

Girl l am 20 & l just learned how to surf when l was 19. The first week is heck if ur upper body isnt well worked out. But its worth the pulled muscles. lol. l never worked out & still learned how to stand up with some help in one week. For the first month my friend taught me. l will say that to learn YOU HAVE TO FALL. The only time things get painful is when the board hits u which WILL HAPPEN but like l said its worth it.Trust me its not difficult once u get past that first month it rocks because u will start experimenting doing different moves. It will be great. Go for it u will fall in love. Have fun.

p.s. wakeboarding is a whole other story lol.
