Alright... well, just hate me now xD, but I am a bodyboarder, but l really need some help here...

I am a female bodyboarder, not a kook... never cut anyone off, am genrally very nice out in the water, compete, and ride for multiple companies... l am sort of shy though, and always go out of my way to be friendly to everyone out in the water, surfers and bodyboarders alike...

However today at school (I am in high school) l was walking down the halls, listening to my iPod, minding my own business, when this guy and his friend come up to me. I've seen him a couple times out in the water, but talked to him only once, and have never snaked him, or cut him off, or done anything but give him a few set waves just to be nice.
Anyway, he and his friend shout at me as l walkby, ''BODYBOARDERS SUCK! F*CK you, you F*CK'n D*CK DRAGGER! YAH- that is right, you heard me, YOU SUCK- l saw that little thing you did in the water the other day, where you flipped your board over and called it a roll... CUZ YOU SUCK!''

... l was speechless. l did nothing to him, ever... and honestly, I am sure my rolls do not suck... at least, my sponsorers and the judges in the contests do not seem to think they do.

So my question is, how should l handle this? Did he say that just because I am a bodyboarder, or did l do something wrong? I've never been yelled at like that by any surfer... actually, I've never been yelled at like that by anyone before...

He is obviously a serious loser with an inferiority complex because he feels the need to put other people down to make himself look better to the people he associates with. l know it hurts, but people like that r not really worth the effort. The best thing to do is feel sorry for him since he is not capable of feeling confident in himself. Obviously u r such a nice person just forget him. If l see u out in the surf l will give u a nice smile & greeting. Keep on surfin! Dave

hes just stupid. do not pay any attention to him. your judges and sponsors think that you are good. it does not matter what they think. he is probably just one of those people who are prejudice against bodyboarders because they do not stand up on the board. do not pay him any mind. he is a loser! just keep doin what you do. and actually, if he starst to pick a fight with you in the water, im sure the guys in the line up will have your back.

Advice is always easier to give than to take. The best thing that u can do is to forget about it, & move on.

Now, l know that is a little too simple, so let me ramble on a little. It is very tough being a teenager. having raised two kids, one of each, l think it is a little harder being a teenage girl. So, u have all sorts of self esteem, self worth & ego issues, no matter how well adjusted u are.

Enter the Neanderthal. Obvioulsy, this guy feels some sort of pleasure in causing hurt. There r all kinds of bullies, the ones who punch u out, & the ones who stab at the soul. This punk is a bully. If it is not bad enough being a bully, it is worse picking on a woman (And l do not want to hear any of the feministr c$#p about equality - men should not pick on women, physically, mentally or emotionally).

Obviously this kid is extremely insecure, most bullies are. And he must be extremely insecure about his abilities as a surfer/bodyboarder. Surfing is FUN, anybody who has to take it that much to heart is just plain missing the point & might as well become a golfer (no offense to folks who enjoy golfing).

It is apparent that u have talent. Your talent threatens his fragile adolescent sense of masculinity. He is attacking you, because inside, he is cared sh&^less of life. He is insecure, immature, mean spirited & cowardly.

You surf/bodyboard to please YOURSELF. Do it so it makes u smile, & the hell with any immature little loon with a chip on his shoulder. Life goes on, no matter what he says. If u let it hurt, he has won. Sc$w him. Smile, surf & do not sweat the small stuff.

Just drop it, this guy has a major ego and alot of surfers do, they think the world of themselves and their surfing. If someone other than themselves and other surfers are in the water, well, they will come up to you and say shit just like that guy did to you. Shrug it off, this is nothin big.

If he comes to you again, just say, ''i have nothing to say to you, so lay off''

Obviously he is an idiot. Girls do not have male parts. Anyways, he is an a$$-hole. Surfing (including all wave-riding methods) was created for pure fun. He should not be surfing with that jack-a$$ attitude. It is supposed to be that no matter who does what better everyone has fun! l have never had a bad encounter with a bodyboarder & they r just like surfers except with small boards as far as l am concerned.

You should buy him one of those cheap $10 foam boogieboards as a
Christmas Gift.

Excuse my language above. But yeah what the guys above said is true just ignore him. Remember he will probably wont be in the line-up as long as u will because he is not surfing for the right reasons.

OK comeing from a female surfer..There is nothing wrong with body boarders there cool. DONt let him make u feel as if theres something wrong cause there isn't. Just blow it off it may be hard trust me l get it sometime out in the water like ohh look a girl, she cant surf they just paddle around trying to act like they no everything WHICH is SOOO NOT ture.. He problaby did cause he knowns ur good & wants to make u feel like crap cause he problaby is bad at it. people do that.. SOOO NO WORRIES GIRL keep up what u LOVE dont ever let anyone make u feel like theres something wrong with ur sport.;.. hope it helped.
