Surfers use their shoulders and upper back muscles when paddling. Look at how wide all the pros is shoulders are.

well you use your arm muscles and your shoulder muscles and neck muscles because you have to keep your head up when paddling. basically the same ones you use to do push ups. l guess the top 3 bones would be elbow bones, shoulder bones, and maybe your finger bones because you have to keep your fingers in a cup shape when paddling.

bones? you use every bone in your body. bones do not do labor, they provide an outline for muscle. theres not much stress on bones when you do a physical activity. they just give something solid for the muscle to wrap around.

muscles would be shoulders, lats, upper and lower back, tricep mostly for paddling and popups.

for riding, mostly obliques, calves, quads. anything in the legs really.

When catching a wave the full body is used,when riding mainly leg and stomach,but depends how you ride.
The bones of a dedicated surfer will be strong,but the knees can suffer,and the other joints through constant use and strain.
