Are there any good surf beaches (in the world) that have no or little sharks around???

you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than getting attacked by a shark buddy

haha you can come down to good old New Zealand
dont worry about the sharks chances are youll never see one in your life unless you head out really deep ot near a reef

Besides the fact that more people die from bee stings than shark attacks, sharks are really misunderstood creatures. Do not be scared of em just cause they LoOK aLL MeaN aNd SCary!

Give em a break, l am pretty sure humans are the most ugly thing sharks have ever seen.

Do not worry too much about sharks. You're WAY more likely to be killed by a dog, snake or bee. There r few things u can do to minimize the risk of a shark encounter though. Avoid surfing at dawn & dusk as that is when they r actively feeding. Avoid surfing around river mouths or other water outfalls.

Some u people r super geniuses. Read a freakin book already. Yes sharks r more actively feeding at dusk & dawn. It is also when the fish they eat r more active. They do not need to tell time, they can see the lighting conditions.

l have NEVER seen a shark EVER in the Santa Barbara area.

l do not like these comparisons with, ''more people die of X a year than shark attacks'' well yeah, but u have to consider the proportion of surfers vs total world population. It is more dangerous to drive a car than take a plain flight, but u get into a car more often than a plain flight, & there r less plain flights than car drives. So yes, although there r more OVERALL DEATHS from other things, u have to figure the PROPORTION of people who r EXPOSED to those risks (more people exposed to bee is than there r surfers in the world for example).

However, in terms of the amnt. of surfers in the world, & those who have been attacked / died from a shark attack. That is very low, less than 1%. l do not have any actual statistics, but it is pretty common knowledge that shark attacks r NOT THE MAJORITY AND ARE NOT COMMON OCCURENCES.

l am more worried about jelly fish because l actually see them ~~.

l have a problem with ur statement, '' l hate sharks.'' What is u basis for that position? Have u been attack by a shark in the past? It is a bit like saying that u want to fly on a commercial airliner, but u hate crashing.

There r sharks in every ocean of the world. They live in the ocean, we r just visitors. And, interestingly enough, as l write this, l am watching a television show about sharks meandering into fresh water bodies of water, like the St. Lawrence River.

l can tell by the way u posed ur question, that u know little or nothing about the sea, or the sharks that inhabit it. Learn about both before starting to surf.

Your odds of getting struck by lightning on the same day u hit the lottery r far better than the odds that u will ever even see a shark, let alone be attacked by one. l have surfed for 42 years, & for many, many years, l fished for sharks. ( l gave up the shark fishing as a professional courtesy: they do not eat me, & l wo not eat them). l have not been bitten yet. Read the link & learn a little bit about sharks that is not hysterical, hollywood drama.http://flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/Sharks/ISAF/ISAF.htm

Southern California has a gazillion sharks at every beach so dont go there. Do not listen to dim bulbs who say sharks feed at dusk and dawn because the feed whenever they can. Shark #1:''Hey, its dusk now!''
Shark #2:'' Yep, better go eat now!''

Sharks r more afraid of u than u r of them. Chances r if u see a sandshark they will get close to ur feet, but they do not have hardly any teeth. And the chances of getting bitten by a shark r higher than the chances of getting struck by lightning. Plus whats the fun of watching the water the whole time looking for sharks while some really nice sets just roll in right past you. And if ur just learning then ur probably not going to go out very far in the water anyways. Sharks r nothing & if they r going to attack u they will give u a sign like they will come up to the surface or they will bump in to you. So u get plenty of time to paddle in. But trust me u will not get eaten by a shark.

u r literally 10x more likely to win the lottery than be attacked by sharks, also. there r only surf spots like lake erie & places around the great lakes & such that have no sharks. Sharks dwell in every part of the ocean over the entire earth, if u want to avoid them than do not splash around in the water when you're out surfing, splashing attracts them & if you're cut head in & get that all patched up. Do not worry though, sharks r not an extreme danger. l wrote a paper on sharks & with extensive research can tell u that humans r not their main goal & even if u r attacked u will more than likely be spit out after being recognized as something besides seals. hope this helps

It all depends on what the circumstances r & where u r for a shark attack. Like if there r any wildlife sharks like to call dinner (like seals) do not go in the water also most sharks r never going to attack in under a little over chest high water & if they do it wont be a major injury just a few stitches later & u will be back to normal :P Also if u need to surf with a buddy or around other people to make u feel more confident in the ocean. Also if u see a fin come out of the water 80-90% of the time its a dolphin. If a shark were to attack u it would come up up from under u & get you.

you've got to take the good with the bad im afraid, but there is seriously so little chance of getting attacked by a shark, i've been surfing for 25 years and in that time l have seen countless sharks, i've only been bitten twice in all that time and those needed only minor stitches.

l do not think anybody likes sharks. My dad has been surfing for 48 years and the only time he ever saw a shark was skin diving. Just be smart stay in groups.

ok only ten people a year die from sharks. just dont go in the water if bleeding sharks to get attracted to pee. or if your wearing bright colors. try not to wear all black theyll think your a seal. theres always going to be sharks but they wont bite most likely

You should not get in the water. There is already too many surfers in the water.

statistically it is very unlikely that you will ever encounter a shark in the surf, let alone be attacked by one. It is like saying you wo not drive a car because you're going to crash and die.
