There are no waves in Long Beach due to the 7 mile long breakwater that protects the port. It is also the reason the water is funky and you should not put a toe in it.

Go surf in neighboring Seal Beach or Huntington Beach.

l would try Huntington Beach near the pier & Newport beach from 40th street up to 56th street. l go to 40th street. There is a life guard tower at the base of a jedie(not sure how u spell it but l am talking about that long stretch of rocks that go out into the ocean to stop the currents) Immediately north of the 40th is black balled 24 hours a day (which is good for body borders like myself) There can be some good size & fun rides. Nothing to big unless there is a storm which can bring 10+ foot swells. You can call the Newport Beach Swell Report. 949-673-3373. This will tell u the wave size, wind, water temp, tide info & sunrise & sunset temps.
