l seem to be doing so this year but in the past I've kept my distance until it started getting warmer.

Summer is definitely the prime time for most surfers in Maryland where l surf year around. The problem here is that although the water is warm in summer, we really do not get the quality waves until fall & winter. If u can deal with heavier wetsuits, a hood, boots, & gloves, winter is the best time to go. l do cut down in winter some because of daylight hours & my work requirements. However, the stoke is still there until weekends, provided we do not have bad weather to deal with.

l think l may have surfed more in the winter last year than in the summer. We get more constituent swell in the winter and if the weather is decent l do not mind the frigid water.

l am jealous... no waves on the ohio river lol

l have not been to the ocean in years. l think my surfing is contained to the internet as l am not a good swimmer anyways.

Well, for SoCal, winter is our 'surf season' so l surf more during winter. l surfed Sat - Mon this week.

Unfortunately, no. l am live in Pennsylvania now, & over the last 42 years, most of my surfing has been done in New Jersey. NJ gets some epic winter waves, but l am getting way too old to layer on all kinds of rubber & beat myself up for a handful of COLD rides. l do go south three, four or more times a winter to surf in South Carolina. The air temperature there stays bearable all year long, & the water rarely gets below the high 40s (Fahrenheit). Once upon a time, l did lots more cold water surfing, but in the northeast US, it has gotten to be a little out of my reach. If l live to retire, l will be at home in South Carolina, & my excursions will be down to balmy Florida each winter.

l wish but it is actually pretty consistent in the summer, however the size or conditions, but the winter is suppossed to get more quality waves. Right now, it is been 2 weeks flat, 2 days surf, 2 weeks flat. Also school and daylight savings does a killing on my session lengths.
