over the summer i'm going to surfing camp ...

my parents said they would pay for the lessons but l had to buy the supplies
how much it be for all the supplies
please list them and showprices and links
i live on long island if that may help

it is the surf2life surfing school...it didnt say on the site if they supplied everyhting or maybe l didnt see it .

another question is ,do l just go for the day ..or summer l would like to go for a few days to a week maybe is that possible ?

What kind of lessons does not provide you with supplies? The only thing you should need is a bathing suit or board shorts. if the lessons do not provide a board and rashguards and such do not go with them. A longboard would cost big bucks. Most lessons should provide these things, so do not worry too much about supplies until you finish and want to pursue a surfing life (definitely).

Lessons should include everything other than towel, sunscreen etc.

Once you know if you like surfing it can get expensive:

Board: $200-800
Wetsuit: $100-400
Leash: $25
Fins: $50

PS. look around at older surfing questions on because you can learn alot by just reading them.

your camp should supply everything you need. All you need to bring is swim suits/board shorts and sunblock. If you dont mind me asking what camp are you looking at going to?

Practically all schools provide everything u need. At my own school we provide soft or hard boards, leashes, wetsuits when it is colder, rashguards, sunblock, plus we also teach how to wax a board with our own wax. Some schools also provide a sample kit of things to take home with you. The average prices r around $65 for an hour group lesson to $125 for 1 12 hr private lessons.

There r schools in most beach areas. Unfortunately, there r also a huge number of people giving lessons that might be able to surf, but have no idea about the proper techniques for instructing beginners.

One important point when u pick a school is to make sure the school is licensed & has insurance. NSSIA accredited schools r licensed & insured, plus the instructors r normally certified by NSSIA or Surfing USA. This means they have been trained to provide quality surf instruction covering both safety & proper technique. l believe the Surf2Live Surf School is located in Long Island. It is an accredited school.

If you're going to camp you should not need anything. Unsound surf shop in Long Beach has lessons which include boards.
