aw well tell her thats just a part of surfing. its just like riding a bike, the more you fall off the more you learn and dont fall off again. what helps with mine, also if you tell her you will give her ice cream if she does it. works every time, lol...

If it is not for her, it is not for her. Not everyone has to surf.

How old r you? How old is ur sister? What is ur surfig background? Where do u surf?

You leave a lot of information out that makes answering this question almost impossible. l have spent lots of time teaching little kids how to surf. One thing l have always noticed, is little children, particularly ones who r not perfectly at home in the water, get scared when they wipe out.

My 9 year old graddaughter has been in the ocean, swimming, boogie boarding & splashing around since she was 4. But when she is out surfing, one nasty wipe out shuts her down for the day. Children r easily frightened, & shouuld not be forced to do something that scares them.

l would suggest that u both take lessons. Formal lessons from an insructor or surf camp. These instructors will take it very slowly, & make sure they kids r comfortable in the water, too. Also, teaching youngsters how to surf is best done with softtop boards, because newbies inevitably get bonked on the head. One hard knock with a fiberglass board is enough to turn some children offf surfing forever.

Do ur parents surf? All of the kids that l have taught r family. Neices, grandsons & granddaughters. l taught my son, too. But my daughter has always been afraid of the ocean, & as much as the ocean is a part of my life, l was never able get her to be at home in it. Some folks just r not ever going to be ''watermen''. Maybe ur sister is like my daughter.

This might be a question that u talk over with ur parents, & a surf instructor, AND ur sister. If she does not want to surf, do not try to force her. l have been surfing for 42 years, & the most imporatnt thing is that surfing is FUN.

She probably is trying just to stand up straight without bending her knees. To surf you need to bend our knees like a sumo to get good balance.

John is right there are a lot of variables to consider here that change how you handle the situation. The fact of the matter is, wiping out is a part of surfing; even great surfers wipe out, and it WILL happen, especially when you're first learning.
