Does anyone no a suitable surfboard or adivce for my 12 year old son.
He is 7stone 8pounds and 5ft 2.
He has hired a soft board plenty of times and is very confident on it and wants a hardboard to progress on.
Also one that will last him a good few years as he gets bigger.
Can anyone help?
Oh for got to says l want one he can start to turn on. Because the softboards do not really turn.

first of all, congrats to ur son for entering the world of surfing!! u should too if u have not already! surfing is an absolutely amazing experience & is very addictive, but in a good way :)

anyhoo, its good that he has been learning on a soft board, they r great for building confidence in the water & getting a feel for the wave (not to mention giving him a taste of it is power & beauty!)

if u were to buy a board for him, i'd get him an epoxy mini-mal. these r great for improvers, as they r light, easy to maneuver, & pretty stable. (epoxy boards r made from foam & fiberglass, mini mal just means it is between shortboard & longboard). l would get him a board around 7'-7'6''. mini mals r also great to give him an idea whether he wants to specialise in either shortboarding or longboarding (both of which r extremely popular in the surfing world!)

i bought an epoxy 7'4'' mini mal about 3 years ago & it is still in great condition. l use it all the time when l cant decide whether l want to take my longboard or shortboard out!

just one thing. surfing is pretty dangerous so if he is going to go surfing in unknown waters, ask a local about the break, in case there r reefs, rocks or sandbanks hidden under the surf which can be dangerous both to him & his board!
