l need your help. some idiot let his board float around in the water today, and a wave slammed it into mine, and his fins tore 2 huge chunks of foam from the rail of my board. its nasty, especially since the board is less than a month old and cost a whole lot.

what canl use to fill the hole?? can anyone give me a detailed explanation on how to fix it?? id be happy to email pics if you need some/ make email contact if anyone feels the need to bother

if its not too big just use some suncure, but if its too big use the resin/hardner with fiberglass material kit to fill it. Make sure if you get the kit it has the plastic strips so it can make a nice finish.

If the ding is as severe as u claim, & especially since it is on ur rail which is the hardest area to repair correctly, u may want to take it to a professional ding repair service. If that is not an option for you, then just about any surf shop sells ding repair kits. The kit should contain white filler to replace foam, some fiberglass cloth, resin, catalyst, & sandpaper of various grits. For best results u will need a rough sandpaper for sanding the ding & fine sandpaper for the finish work.

If the ding is mostly superficial u can use a product like Solarez to fill the hole(s). Solarez is really easy to use & cures in just a few minutes when exposed to sunlight.

If the ding is deeper, & it sounds like yours is, then u will need to first replace the lost foam with white filler. After the filler dries, cut a piece of fiberglass that overlaps the ding by about 1cm on all sides. Next, roughly sand (but not too roughly!) about 2cm around the whole ding. Brush all the dust away & lay the fiberglass cloth over the ding. Since the ding is on ur rail, u will have use masking tape to form a ''dam'' so that the resin will not run down the sides of ur board during the next step. Follow the directions for the resin & catalyst, then apply to the fiberglass cloth & the surrounding sanded area. Allow to cure for the specified time. After the resin has cured, lightly sand to remove any sharp edges & bulges, then use a fine grit sandpaper to even out the repair job.

l can help u with ur problem, u need a Fiber glass fit it comes with everything down 2 a paint brush,its very easy 2 use and it gives instructons,it is also light weight and wont affect ur board.U will also need sone sand paper 2 sand off the resin when ur finished.E-MAIL me on what the board looks like and how it tourns out,hope thet was some helh, olanrobrien.ie
