I am a beginner surfer and l learned my lesson earlier today going into a surf that is way beyond my skill level.Which spots are the best to go to learn to surf and what kind of board should l use?

My kids surf everyday of the summer in San Diego. My 14&13year old are pretty good but my six yr old started on Jolla Shores this summer and has found it easy enough.

Leucadia Beach (northern San Diego) is perfect for learning. The beach is one of the pretties l have ever seen, with large bluffs and the waves are great for those starting out.
There is a lesson place that uses ''soft'' boards that are a little softer if they kick up in the waves, highly recommended http://leucadiasurfschool.com/
