l am 15 years old and l realy wanna start surfing but l dont know how...
i weigh 100 pounds and im very skinny ??? what should l do

l would go bye a surf board go to some place with waves first is get the board than second comes balance so where there is no waves than jsut stand on the water with the board than once u think u have accomplished it than go on the small waves till you accomplished it than meduim and large than lala you have surfed

l started by using a friends board a couple of times until l realized that l could surf & that l liked it. get a board & go surfing when the waves r small. do not catch the big waves outside, but catch the white wash inside. just let it push u along & stand up, get used to ur board, & learn how to turn. once u feel comfortable u can go outside on a REALLY SMALL DAY & catch waves. for board size, get as large of board as possible. i'm ur age & l use a 7 foot hardboard. l suggest a 8 - 8.5 foot softboard. even 9 foot would be good. surf surf surf until u get used to it. if u like the ocean, u will love surfing! good luck

Become as strong a swimmer as you can. THen surf as much as you can. Surfing is confidence and not fearing the elements, ie: Drowning. Build a base of Waterman talent as you go.

Borrow a board & go out with someone who knows what they're doing. If none of ur friends surf, take a lesson. They will teach u the basics about paddling, catching a wave, standing up, & basic surf etiquette.

Do not be too anxious to go out & buy ur first board right away. Most places will rent them for about $8 an hour, with discounted rates after the first hour.

Once u kinda get the hang of it, & u know this is something u want to pursue, go ahead & buy a board. l recommend getting a used board for ur first. Unless you're going to get a mass-produced foamy, like the ones they sell at Costco. They're fine boards, but they do not have the best reputation out in the water, so u may get teased a bit.

If u want to improve ur strength & muscle mass, swim in ur free time & do some push ups every morning & night.

However, the best way to improve ur surfing is to surf. So, just get out there as much as u can & have fun!
