Someone wrote about their experience with the Liquid Shredder recently. The answer was great. After reading the question and replies you may want to do a little more research and consider something else. :(

Costco is selling soft tops pretty cheap. If it is your first board and you do not want to spend a lot, that is a good option.

Many schools, including mine, use those boards. l use the 8'2'' and the 9' Liquid Shredder soft boards for lessons. Every now and then l surf on one as well. They are cheap, light, accelerate fast, but feel different then regular boards on turns. They also do not last as long as fiberglass or epoxy boards. For a first board l think you might do better paying the extra $200.

Al;though they r inexpensive & safe for beginners l would go with another choice. If u really want a soft board go with an INT or something else that is close-celled. That way at least it wo not absorb water.

You could also go with one the Chinese pop-out boards like they sell at Costo. l have mixed feelings about these boards. Sure they r cheaper & that makes surfing more accessible to beginners but l do not like to concept of a surfboard being made in a factory overseas by people who have never surfed. Plus, they rip off a lot of templates from custom shapers & have even been known to market them under the original shapers name.
