l think about all the trouble that people go to to get into the ocean and that really the ocean is just constantly throwing us out of it.

surfing feels totally awsome. you just start paddling and get up on that wave and then jump up on your board and all of a sudden your just floatin accross the water. for starters just keep the nose up and you should be fine.

the feeling of surfing cant be explained it really should just be felt im not some lame hippie thats trying to get all technical but u just have to feel it for yourself

when u see a wave that u start paddling for everything in ur head becomes blank & nothing even matters. when u get up on a powerful wave dropping in with so much speed the feeling of ur knees about to buckle as u do a bottom turn is priceless theres nothing that can compare to catching ur perfect wave & shredding the face like a canvas

oh yeah I'd take deep water over shallow breaks any day just dont panic when a wave keeps u down & u get the feeling of vertigo

Its about half as fun as boogy boarding.

l will ignore the goon with the bodyboarding comment & just say this. Surfing truly is a unique experience. It is one of those things that u actually find yourself daydreaming about when u r not doing it, & in a constant state of satisfaction when u are. You can be out for hours upon hours & say to yourself 'okay this will be my last wave, l am dead tired,' only to take a wave in, get so stoked, & turn right around to paddle out for another set. l am sure l am not the only one feeling that way either.

l think snowboarding is more fun than surfing. Do not get me wrong, l love surfing. Its probably just because l am not that strong of a swimmer. Still, l love to go (especially with trained lifeguards). If u think u would be scared, take lessons. The instructors will take care of you. There is nothing like paddling out through the waves. You feel as though the waves r gonna take u out, but then u go right through them. Then the first time u stand up; WOW, what a rush. You should definitely try surfing its amazing, & gives u something to do when there is no snow on the ground.

Catching a great wave is like riding fresh powder by yourself on a perfect hill.

Getting barreled is mind blowing, you will always remember your first.

Give it a go, you already have the co-ordination to do.

Do not worry about the deep water - when you get out there, and start catching waves, you will forget all about it.

Good luck dude, hope you do give it a go - you wont regret it.

Surfing is the only sport allowing you to feel the movement of our beautiful earth and being in that movement is mind blowing! Nothing comes for free though on this planet, so keep on practicing and practicing!

Surfing is the most awesome rush of peace and thrill. The ocean seems to have a calming affect, and when you take off on your first wave its an absolute thrill. You really should try it sometime

Surfing, in it is original text is known to the Hawaiians as He'e Nalu. ''He'e'' being to slide or slippery, and ''Nalu'' meaning wave. You put them together, and you get wave sliding. It is been around since forever. The feel is undescribable. There is no other sound like the inside of a barrel. You should try it.

It is great. Forget about deep water. Sharks can getcha in less than three feet of water. But then again in surfing u r much less likely to hit a tree at 30-45mhp. Of course u can drown real quick too, l guess. But u could get hit by a bus in the morning too, life is too short to worry about the what-ifs. Get out there & give it a shot. As a snow boarder you've already got the balance down pretty good, it is not that different. Except that u do not have to ''catch'' a mountain, u just point down that way & go, if something gets in ur way. Turn. Or so l hear from Lane Meyer.
My first time surfing was when l was about 8 or 9 years old. We moved to Hawaii & l learned how to swim (mostly) in the ocean. l started with the boogie board & moved up to a thrown away (broken off nose) surf board. l never got real good at it, but it was still fun. l had a few memorable wipe outs that resulted in some bloody water, but hey it is all good.

Its hard to explain, l think of it as a cross between free falling, sex, and distance running.
My first time, l wiped out so much l thought I'd never get it. l finally caught a wave that l stood up on and l was hooked.

the first time l surfed l was 7 (im 16 now). my dad took me out in the water & l wsa scared to death. but he just told me not to worry about wiping out or drowning or anything. so l just thought of being on a boat, & it really is like being on a boat, & u feel so safe with ur board, & it is like no other feeling. the sun is hot, th water is dancing around ur pruney toes. & l love just puting my hand out & feeling the water & l love the smell of the salt. {but that not even the best part}. then u get out far enough to catch a wave. & u see the big wave & u get this adreniline rush of mixed emotions like excitiment/fear/boldness, & its the strangest feeling. so then u paddle really fast & try to go faster then the wave & u get to excited andd when u fianlly catch it, ur just overjoyed & so concentrated all at once. so then u keep paddle & then all of a sudden u get taken up by the wave & it is guiding u through the water & it feels like a ride disneyland only 1000 times better. & then once u feel confedent enough u stand up & try to hold u balance & u feel soo incredbly accoplished; & then its smooth saling from then on.. hope that helped!

Surfing is one of those sports where once u try it, you're hooked. l too was nervous about the deeper water & sharks & so forth & so on, but after catching the first wave, u forget about all of that. If u r still scared, u might feel more comfortable surfing in the general area of other more experienced surfers. That is what l did, & l felt better. Once you're finnished for the day, & u go home adn go to bed, u still feel like u r surfing, just like the same feeling u get after being in a wave pool, only 10X better. Surfing is a way of life. l say go for it. You have nothing to loose & everything to gain.
