because it keeps you warm. even on a warm day the water can be cold, if you have a wetsuit you can stay out longer.

Plus they help a little bit when it comes to bumps and grazes when surfing rocks

because it is really cold and you have to stay warm so you learn to rip like me, and most importantly its one of the only ways you can bathe in your pee

It gets cold in the winter. A wetsuit lets you surf during the cold weather season. If you only surf during summer you will never advance much as a competent surfer. Also, around here you would die if you went in the water without one in the winter.

to keep u warm and ur skin protected. l wouldnt really do that if l were them. id just wear a bikini w/ board short or somthing. cus it doesnt look comfortable. and its easy for me to get used to the water of the beaches

A wetsuit can protect u from the shells and rough sand if u whipe out often like l do, or they can keep u warm in cold water!

All the great reasons above, and a lyrca wetsuit would also protect you from sometimes lethal jellyfish stings as well :)
