Surfing is great exercise. In order to get to the best waves you have to swim a long way out.

You definitely have no idea what it takes to stand up on that board let alone to stay on it. That is why they have those AMAZING bodies!!!

surfing is the most funnest thing ever and l love it. but it also is a very strenuois thing.. you paddle for a longgg time (upper body strength), you have to stand up(upper body strength and legs), and then you have to make turns (stomach, upper body, and legs) so there it is :) hahaha hope you get it noow

they train a lot and believe it or not everything in surfing is great for building muscle (well almost everything) some of it may be from extra working out so that they have more strength for paddling the board and such.

surfing builds muscle so that is why you see them with abs and plus they are in the sun 24/7 which makes them tan.

Most pros and models you see actually go to a gym.
True surfers have the standard Y shape - an athletic build to their bodies typically found in swimmers and gymnasts.
The bulky upper body is from paddling out. The waistline is slim from carrying the board, paddling, diving, swimming to the surface, etc. It burns a lot of fat. The legs are usually lean because those muscle groups are not used as much.

ever tried it? man u have got to be strong l am serious. paddling out is BRUITLE & carrying those boards & controlling the board through those waters its just hard. l am sure some people (like me) work out & run to keep in shape for surfing so that it wont be so hard in the water. if u want that body work on ur abs & ur arms & ur stamina & that is about all u will need (emphasizes on arms & stamina) try lifting weights (start with about 10 or 15 pounds) & run for stamina & sit ups for the abs. It is a lot of work but if u commit to doing it u will have that bod in NO TIME

Yep most surfers do not need the gym as if you have ever tried surfing you will know that nothing else makes you work as hard as surfing, especially if the surf is big. Mother nature throws you around like a rag doll if you do not respect her.

well yes, they push themselves and work those abs and muscles all the time and surfing is a sport and any sport will get you an amazing body if you just stick with it.

Well surfing is a culture and lifestyle! Part of the culture is the look. Actual surfing is good exercise but mainly for the back and arms. It does not really work on the ab muscles unfortunately. The surfing lifestyle is quite healthy and body conscious. You only see guts appearing on mid 30s+ surfers unless they do sit-ups etc. l am one of the mid 30 surfers ha ha trying to keep a flat gut.
