What is more fun surfing or snowboarding? Why? Don't answer unless you have actually done both!!!?

Personally l enjoy surfing more but both have positives & negatives.

Surfing; Pro = ur in the ocean in nice weather, when u fall it does not really hurt.
con = u have to do a lot of waiting for waves, ur going to get hit by waves. its unavoidable, & sharks.

Snowboarding; Pro = much longer lasting runs.
con = hurts when u fall, ur in the cold weather, u r sitting on ur ass in the snow unclipping & reclipping ur binding over & over again, higher chance of getting injured (your snapped into ur board which is not the case in surfing), & bears.

Both r pretty expensive. u def need to buy less snowboards because surfboards r less durable. However surfboards have a variety of shapes & sizes depending on ur height, weight, & ur desired surf style. Snowboards r all pretty similar. In closing.. l would pick surfing because l live closer to the ocean than a mountain,

l enjoy both, but without reiterating too much as the previous poster, here is my take:

Snowboarding is initial cost can be more as u have to buy pants, jacket, gloves, goggles, board, bindings, stomp-pad, lift ticket, wax etc.

Surfing is initial cost can be less as u need only a pair of boardshorts/ swimsuit, wetsuit when it is cold, leash, board, wax etc.

If it is warm enough in either, u wo not need to use a jacket/ wetsuit.

In the long run, it depends on where u go, but lift passes for snowboarding & parking passes for surfing vary in cost. Snowboarding at resorts will always need a lift pass. Surfing usually needs parking passes, but u can find lots of places that r free.

In both, many dedicated people end up having different boards for different situations/ conditions, more so in surfing than in snowboarding. And with each board starting around $300 going up to over a thousand, it can be costly in both sports.

Unless u live near mountains, snowboarding is much more seasonal than surfing is. No snow, no ride. Surfing has more waves year round. Mountains have set areas of experience level, as do beaches/ reefs/ etc for surfing.

Now to the actual doing of the sports. Surfing has a much steeper learning curve. Patience is key as there r only so many waves in a set amount of time. Each wave is different, as is the wildlife that can hurt you. Within the span of 24 hours, u can have different sizes & shapes of waves thanks to changes in swell & tides. Snowboarding has a somewhat consistent shape, but changes in weather eventually affect the type of snow/ if there is any snow on the mountains.

Because of this, snowboarding is easier to start learning since the lift takes everyone to the top. Getting off the lift is probably the hardest thing for any beginner. Surfing, u can have someone push u into waves, & help u get out to the waves. Just staying on the board is probably the hardest thing for a beginner.

Both sports borrow from each other in techniques, as both sports use the edges of the boards to for control.

There r no surf parks, except for the few man-made waves in the world, but they're usually lame. Snowboarding has parks that r awesome once u get a good grasp of the sport.

l personally enjoy surfing more as l can do it year round, 7 days a week. They're both fun though. different, but still fun.

Unless u get REALLLLLL good at snowboarding.

If u go surfing all the time, u will get good, obviously, but u will have a load of fun. Just paddling out becomes a pleasure, duck-diving a joy, & dropping in deeper & deeper is a pleasure & a joy..like my writing style? Thought u would.

Snowboarding is hard at first , can hurt a lot..
..gets fun for a while but then things get technical.
You need good predictible equips, & a lot of discipline & precision.
When u start pulling 70ft long jumps, 720's, & ur first vertical spins, u need to focus & work hard.

Surfing is fun regardless. You've gotta be fit, sure, but that comes with time...

yeah Ive done both, snowboarding is great fun, surfing is my thing though. Dont like the snow much or the cold.

The feeling of the ''glide'' of riding a wave cannot be duplicated or explained. No two waves are the same. The many different types of boards. You can surf in Alaska or Zimbabwe. Besides girls in bikinis look better than girls in parkas..

Really depends on the surf does not it. l love both, but if it is between the best day surfing vs. best day snowboarding? Surfing wins by a huge landslide. Snowboarding is fun as siht but surfing great waves is like magic. Like getting a horsey ride from god.
