It is my first time watching a surf competition, and l wanna make sure l see all the big names, and killer waves.

There is no set time for WCT events. They use what is called a waiting period. This is typically a 7-9 day window in which they can run the contest. This allows them to run it on days when the surf is the best.

The waiting period for Pipe starts on the 8th & runs through the 20th. It will probably take a good 6 days to run it since there r surfers in it than a regular WCT contest, so u should have plenty of time to watch some surfing.

The telephone surf report has whether the competition will go by 7:15 am on it. l do not know where you're staying, but if you're anywhere near the North Shore, that will give u time to go & check it out. We had really beautiful weather for the first part in Haleiwa this year, with some great rides & riders. Did u check out the news on the front page of this morning is Advertiser about Jaws in Maui? 80 FOOT FACES!!! l digress.anyway, u can always call the surf line starting at 7:15 am each day & they will let u know if the competition is going that day.
