get a foamie short board, should be about $100 and if your beginning l think l should tell you how to get up. alright for your first few months paddle reallly hard when you see the whitewaters of the wave. once that comes near paddle as hard as you can, after you do that put your hands on the rails, push up and move your fee where your hands were that way you can find a good balance point, release your hands from the rails after you find your balance point and stand up and surf.

This wo not get me a best answer but read though previously answered questions. This question gets asked like twice a week.

Just get a cheap longboard or hybrid around 8 to 9 feet till you learn what you're doing.

foamies suck! get a longboard a used one, it will probably cost just as much. nothing under 8 ft.
